Youtubers

These are only the recent (2016-now) Youtubers that are known for MC (Minecraft) content. It also only includes a tiny chunk of YouTubers. And will not include problematic people.

Ph1LzA AKA (also known as) Philza, Phil, Crow father, and Dadza

He is from the UK (The United Kingdom), and his full name is Phillip Watson, though most people (at least online) call him Phil. Many people also know him and his wife as dadza and mumza because they see them as parents as their real parents might be abusive, just not great role models, or not in their life at all. He's known as the Crow Father, particularly for that reason and because he was basically a bird on the Origins SMP (Survival Multiplayer Server). So Wilbur Soot called him "mama bird," which later led to the term "Crow Father." He met his wife, Kristina "Kristin" Rosales (AKA Mumza), through his Twitch streams because she was looking for MC content to help with her job as a children's behavioral interventionist. Phil is known for dying to a baby zombie in his season 2 hardcore world in 2019 that he had been playing on for five years, propelling him into the popularity he has now. Even getting him on the British news and the official MC YouTube (YT) channel on, Meet a Minecrafter: Ph1LzA. He's been playing in the same hardcore world since May 10, 2019.

If you'd like to check him out, this is his videos on demand (VOD) channel on YT is Philza VODS and are from his Twitch streams.

Slimecicle

AKA Slime or Charlie is an American Youtuber and Twitch streamer. Although he's known mainly for MC, he plays various other games. He also has a Dungeons & Dragons (DND) podcast with his friends called Just Just Roll With It on YT, but it's also available on Spotify and iTunes.

Here is his VODs channel, main channel, Slimecicle,, side channel, Slmccl, and Twitch channel.

Techoblade AKA Techno, The Blade, and The Blood God

He was an American Youtuber, Alexander (or Alex), known for his MC content on Hypixel. He became popular through his PVP ( player versus player) skills, even causing some to dub him The Blade and The Blood God. He also had a Potato War against im_a_squid_kid on Hypixel SkyBlock, where both fought to farm the most potatoes. Techo won by reaching 500 million.

If you'd like to watch the entire several-part series, the playlist is here.

His Death

His content and streams (on YT) were significant and inspirational for many people. So, when he was diagnosed with sarcoma, it shook the community to its core. Many streamers and Youtubers donated and raised several thousands of dollars for cancer research. After the announcement on YT, he still streamed and uploaded whenever he had strength between chemotherapy sessions. During one of these streams, he (and his chat) raised nearly $322,900 for sarcoma research.

Sadly, on June 30th, 2022, we learned that he had died, thougha video uploaded on his channel called so long nerds, the news was made public by Techo's dad. Who read a script that was written by Techo eight hours before he died. I'd highly recommend you watch the video to get more of the story or even research Techo when you can.

The One of Us Global Foundation

Shortly after Techo's death, his parents, known as Techodad and Stacey, partnered with the Sarcoma Foundation to, as the The One of Us Global Foundation website says, "Through mentorship, scholarship, and global networks of support and community, Technodad and Stacey aspire to help young people across the globe follow in Alex’s footsteps by giving them the tools, resources, and personal empowerment to change the landscapes of their worlds just as Technoblade did." there's more information about them on their website so please do check it out and even donate if you'd like.

YouTuber Server

These are servers only Youtubers can play on and are not open to the public.

SMPEarth

This was a survival multiplayer server (SMP), a 1:3000 scale replica of the real-life Earth with factions to simulate nations. It had over 60 creators playing on it over its less than year-long lifespan (Nov 22, 2019, to Apr 11, 2020) and throughout its many wars, alliances, and treaties. Many creators who played on this server are now problematic, don't have an online presence, or don't play MC anymore.

It has a lengthy list of events, but one of the most iconic ones is when Techo and Phil tried to claim most of the Earth. To accomplish this, they used planes and a real-time world map that showed the players' location, claims, and many other things, both of these are server mods(modification). After over an hour of flying worldwide, they had successfully claimed most of the world. This meant that other players that wheren't part of the Antarctic Empire faction couldn't build, break blocks, and many other things within these claimed areas. So, many other players came together to hold a sort of trial that, officially called Newfoundland v. Technoblade et al.(and others), ended with the Antarctic Empire being forced to unclaim the land.

QSMP

The first multilingual MC SMP server was created on March 22, 2023, by Quackity because he fully speaks English and Spanish. At first, it was only Engish and Spanish creators, but it has since added Portuguese and French creators. When the first group of creators arrived on the island, known as Quesadilla Island, on a train, they were told that the island was a beautiful resort. But once they got there and have continued to live there because they can't leave, they've released more and more that the island is quite the opposite and continues to become each day. This is not helped by the Federation, who runs the island poorly, even using lies and manipulation to get their way.

The biggest thing that sets this SMP apart from others, besides being multilingual, is the eggs. Early in the SMP's life, on April 3, 2023, each creator was paired with each other, dubbed parents, and told to choose an egg to care for. They could also name it whatever they'd like. They were told they had to keep as many of them alive until their birth parent, a dragon, returned. To keep them alive, the parents must complete daily tasks (supposedly given to them by the Federation) at least three times a week, or they'll lose a life. At the start, they each had three lives, but due to several causes, many died or had one to two lives left.

But, as of September 8th, 2023, all the remaining eggs disappeared overnight. Unsurprisingly, any creators who were parents to at least one egg were devasted to log on to the SMP and discover that all of the eggs had disappeared since they had loved and cared for them for six months. They even got on the server at ridiculous times to complete the quests. The server admins control the egg who might live in a different time zone than their parents or have real-life responsibilities. The parents are demanding answers from the Federation, destroying parts of the server with explosives and lava. There have been very few discoveries concerning their whereabouts, who or what took them, if they're dead, if they'll come back, among many other questions plaguing the parents' minds. On top of that, Philza, the parent of Chayanne and adoptive father of Tallulah, has recently been trapped in a house in the middle of nowhere, raising even more questions for the other creators and viewers.

Origins SMP

When creators first joined, they had to pick an origin that would give them different positive or negative traits, many of which are from the Origins mod available here while others are custom. Some of them and the creators who chose them are:

Elytrian, Ph1LzA
Enderian, Ranboo
Phantom, Wilbur Soot and Shubble

Minecon/MINECON Earth/MINECON Live

Minecon is the official livestream and convention for MC. It started in 2010 and was originally known as MinecraftCon, but the conventions after that were called Minecon. At these, Mojang announces major features in upcoming updates, upcoming updates, mob votes, spin-offs, and several other things. Sometimes, popular YouTubers are invited to participate on stage. They also sometimes promote community-made things like art, animations, marketplace products, and such on their own panels.

Minecon

Between 2010 and 2016, Minecon was held as a traditional convention that fans of the MC could attend. However, 2014 was canceled due to a disagreement within Mojang on how to host events to celebrate MC. It was held in several states in America and London and was extremely popular with fans, with several thousands of people attending them yearly. It was so popular that the 2015 convention was in The Guinness World Records books for the most attended convention for one game with 10,000 tickets sold.

MINECON Earth/MINECON Live

From 2017 to 2022, it was exclusively an interactive live stream on several different websites. In the 2019 live stream, they announced that the convention would be called MINECON Live to avoid confusion with their spin-off, Minecraft Earth. They also announced in 2019 that the following years would be both online and IRL (in real life) in Florida, but because of the covid (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, it was canceled.

Mob Votes

Since 2017, mob votes have allowed the community to vote on one mob between three or four that'll be added in the next major update. The candidates are announced and teased at MINECON Live. Originally posted on Twitter, but due to some Youtubers rigging the vote by telling their fans to vote for one of the options. But the most recent one, 2022, was switched to be hosted on the official MC website and the MC launcher.

2017

In the 2017 mob vote, the Phantom won. Originally, it was known as the "The Monster of the Night Skies." More information about this mob is on the updates page under hostile mobs. The other options were a squid-like creature that pulls players deeper into the water called "The Monster of the Ocean Depths," A lizard creature that sinks into the ground, camouflages itself and consumes mobs and items called "The Great Hunger," and a blaze like mob made of shields that would spawn with blazes and attack the player with a shock wave attack called"The Hovering Inferno."

2020

The winner for this year was the glow squid. More information on this mob is on the updates page under passive mobs. The other options were the moobloom that would've interacted with bees somehow and the iceologer that would've thrown ice clouds at players.

2021

The winner for this year was the allay, which is a small fairy-like mob able to collect more of an item it's given. The other options were the glare, which would've told the player if the area was dark enough for hostile mobs to spawn, but Java Edition players already have this ability with the F3 key and the copper golem that would've been a little copper robot that pressed buttons.

2022

The winner for this year was the sniffer that can find ancient seeds. The other options were the rascal, after being found three times, would've given the player an item, and the tuff golem, which would've been like a moving table only able to hold one item, but it would've returned to its original spot.

2023

Although not in the game as of October 23, 2023, the winner for this year was the Armadillo. Currently, we don't have a lot of the same information we have on the other mobs because the winner was just announced on October 13th. But we know that once the Armadillo is added in the next update, it'll drop Scutes, which the player can use to create armor for their dogs (tamed wolves). The other options were Crabs (won second place), which would've dropped Crab Claws that, would've let the player place blocks farther than they can by default, and Penguins (won third place), who would've acted like dolphins, letting the player go faster in boats when they were nearby them.

Herobrine

He's considered canon and has officially appeared in the game through changelogs to this day. This is a community-made creepypasta from the early days of MC.

Canonical Story

First showing up in a story posted on the MC Forum in 2010 by user Flaky that might have been copied from a 4chan board of a player encountering an entity that had glowing white eyes after they listened to the music disc 13 and included a screenshot of the eyes in a dark cave.

herobrine's eyes in a dark cave

Using this story as the base, the later stories started to include that he had the player's default skin with completely white eyes and was said to be the deceased brother of Notch, but he never had a brother in the first place. They also detail this entity in the player's single-player world without a username above its head and stalking them from afar, creating man-made buildings that could destroy blocks. It also included a screenshot of Herobrine in the distance fog. Although he's said to build and destroy, he only targets the player and seems to appear without a clear reason.

Community Story

Herobrine is mostly shown with his hands empty, but sometimes he's shown to be holding a pickaxe or another tool. From the idea that he's a dead miner who died way before the player's arrival. He occasionally interacts with mobs. He can also take control of passive animals and revive undead mobs, making them have white eyes like him. He can drastically change the environment but has no viable way. He mostly uses cobblestone in his buildings and acts like a player in creative mode. Most of the time, he doesn't talk, but some interpretations have him talking to players through chat. His intentions vary, but most paint him as either a stalker or vengeful. He keeps his distance from the player in staking variations and disappears when they get close. In vengeful versions, he traps players and takes their items. The popular idea is that they can summoned with a "Herobrine altar," a 3x3 pyramid with a gold block base, and a netherrack on top light on fire with four redstone torches on each corner, but there are several different versions.
